Keeping Families Together in a Seating Plan
Place household members together where capacity allows and review any group that must be split.
Count confirmed family members
Use the actual attending people. Reserved places include invitation capacity and can overstate the number needing seats. Confirm whether children need ordinary seats, high chairs or another arrangement with the venue.
Review the group before moving it
Check each table’s remaining capacity and existing assignments. If the family does not fit, choose nearby tables or move another suitable group after reviewing relationships; do not silently displace guests to force a household together.
Worked example · illustrative details
Five people and four spare places
A five-person household cannot fit into four remaining places. Use a table with five spare seats or agree a nearby split. After moving them, check all five names and the capacities of both affected tables.
