DEVENT planning resources
Managing Family RSVPs
Keep one household invitation while recording which named family members will attend.
Define the invitation group
Use one household for people sharing an invitation and contact. Add individual names and check the allowed seats before sending; the household label is a communication shortcut, not a substitute for the guest list.
Review people, not just households
An accepted family invitation may contain fewer attendees than reserved places. Use the attending count for meals and seating, and keep declined members distinct from people who have not replied.
Worked example · illustrative details
One invitation, three attendees
The Karim household contains four names with four reserved seats. Three attend and one declines. Keep one private link, three meal allocations and three seats instead of creating a duplicate invitation for the absent person.
